Space Exploration: The Indian Scenario

Dr Jitendra Nath Goswami

The entire nation beamed with pride when headlines across all the countries bounced and marvelled at India launching its own ship to the moon. Every kid who dreams to send this dreams far across the atmosphere into the starry world beyond paused to saute some people. It's the same people who were dreamers of yesterday. NSSC 2018 has the honour of hosting one of these avid dreamers and strikingly brilliant achievers at IIT Kharagpur.

Dr Jitendra Nath Goswami worked day and night to materialize the dream of every India. He was one of the key developers of the Chandrayan-1 project and is lovingly known as "The Moon Man of India". Dr Goswami has been bestowed with the highest civilian award in the country, Padma Shri for his relentless work in his field. Dr Goswami has also worked at Physics Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad as the Director. He was elected as president of Astronomical Society of India in 2007. He is a member of The World Academy of Science, Indian Academy of Sciences, European Association of Geochemistry and many other national and international association of Astronomy. He is also the mastermind behind the impending Chandrayaan-2 and future Indian planetary missions.

For everyone who sees themselves changing the times with science, here's a man who was exactly at your place years back and decided to go for it. If the heights and dreams don't scare you, meet us all on 5th October 2018!
